Learning physics and chemistry easily and freely - Science for elementary school, middle school and high school

Free online electricity lessons for elementary school,  middle school and high school.

The Voltage

The voltage and its units

The voltage is denoted with the letter U

Its unit is the volt (in honor of Alessandro Volta) symbol V.
We can also use the derived units of the volt as the millivolt (mV), the centivolt (cV), the decivolt (dV), the decavolt (dav) etc..

Comment:
For the circuits studied in these lessons the most common derived unit is the millivolt (mV): 1 V = 1000 mV.
